The Walking Dead was one of the hit TV shows in 2010 and as I write this The Walking Dead Season 2 is just about to start airing on television which brings us on to The Walking Dead Comic Book Figures from McFarlane Toys.

McFarlane are releasing 2 different types of  The Walking Dead action figures, a range from the TV series which we will be talking about next week and The Walking Dead Comic Figures.

The Walking Dead Comic Figures are taken directly from the mega-hit comic book series and Mcfarlane have done a fantastic job of blending both a fantastic sculpt and amazing articulation which hasn’t always been McFarlane’s strength, but i’m pleased to see that we have both working here to create a fantastic range of figures.

There are 4 The Walking Dead Comic Figures available in the first series including:

• The Walking Dead Comic Officer Rick Grimes
• The Walking Dead Comic Michonne
• The Walking Dead Comic Zombie Lurker
• The Walking Dead Comic Zombie Roamer

At the moment is the Michonne figure that’s proving to be one of the most wanted from the first series.  Here is a look at the different figures available:

THE WALKING DEAD ZOMBIE LURKER FIGURE
To Rick’s group of survivors, there are two types of zombies. “Roamers” are the ones that actively wander around, while “Lurkers” remain still until disturbed by a living creature. Like a Lurker, this figure comes with a gory surprise, just waiting for a human to get too close – this zombie really has a problem keeping it together!

THE WALKING DEAD ZOMBIE ROAMER FIGURE
The only sure way to stop a zombie in The Walking Dead is to destroy its brain – and this figure illustrates that important fact in gruesome detail with exploding brain play action sure to both disgust and amaze!

OFFICER RICK GRIMES
A small-town police officer shot in the line of duty, Rick Grimes awoke from a coma to find the world overrun by zombies. Searching for his wife and son, Rick found his missing family seeking refuge in a camp of survivors on the outskirts of Atlanta. His police background and natural leadership qualities earned him the respect of his fellow survivors, who soon looked to him as their new leader.

MICHONNE
Not long after moving into the fortress-like prison, Rick and his group of survivors were approached by a mysterious visitor from the zombie wasteland. With sword in hand, and two leashed zombies in tow, Michonne came to the prison seeking safety and shelter. Little did she know — it would lead to her greatest enemy. Michonne survived the horrors of Woodbury, and her fearlessness and weapon proficiency quickly earned her a place as a trusted defender of the group.

So the first figures that we’re taking a look at is the third series in NECA’s Predators series.  I cannot believe that we are already on Series 3 and that the Predator range doesn’t look like slowing down at all.

I’ve always loved the Predator figures starting back when McFarlane first brought out the Original 12″ Predator and then the Alien Vs Predator series of figures and now with Predators Series 3 figures Neca brings us three more Predators to collect including:

• Predators Series 3 Elder Predator
• Predators Series 3 Masked Classic Predator
• Predators Series 3 Predator Hound

NECA have done a fantastic job on this range of figures taking a different character from a different movie, for example the Elder Predator comes from the final scene in Predator 2 with Danny (Lethal Weapon) Glover, the Masked Classic Predator of course comes from the original hit classic Predator movie with Arnold Schwarzenegger and directed by John McTiernan (Does he still direct? Loved his movies!) and the Predator Hound from the last movie Predators.

Anyway I love these figures, yet again NECA have done a fantastic job and each figure features over 20 points of articulation with incredible detail and come with accessories.

The Predators Series 3 Predator Hound is a really cool detailed figure, the thornes are attached and bendy and this figure is really suprising with the amount of articulation it’s got, you can move it’s mouth, it’s head and neck, above and below the legs, on the back feet and the waist.  But it’s the detail on this figure that really impressed me and I have to say that NECA have up their game on this one, the head and especially the mouth are incredible.

The Predators Series 3 Classic Predator again has amazing detail for this kind of figure and at this price point, just wait until you see the lazer on the side of the helmet and the helmet itself is fantastic with the colours used.  The articulation on this predator is the same as most of the standard NECA predators and is one of my favourites.

Now we come on to the most-wanted Predator and that is the Elder Predator, again another fantastic figure, the paint job is superb and the details like the skull necklace is amazing, even the detail’s like the ring in the front of his mouth.  Just wait until you see the accessories that this comes with…you get the flint pistol that he gives to the detective at the end of the movie and also a machette which again looks great.

Altogether this is a fantastic set which is well worth buying and will make a great addition to your collection.
